Depression it is more than just the Blues

by Marley Wolfe M. Ed LPC

Sometimes you don't want to be bothered and just don't seem to be in a good mood lately.  "Maybe I will snap out of it!"

But some how you don't.  You notice that you aren't sleeping well and waking during the night and not able to go back to sleep. Everything seems like such a chore.  Even getting up in the morning can be more than you believe you can do.  It is important to take time to take care of yourself and see a professional who can help you discover and manage what you are going through.  It is important to get support so that you can begin to live your life again.  It just won't go away.   We sometimes have losses that we don't recognize as losses.  It could even be expectations of the way we thought our life or job or relationship was going to play out.  When we are depressed we are not the only one that it effects.  It effects the people we love.  So don't ignore what is going on and label it as just the "blues".  Be kind to yourself and that will help you be kind to others.  You can't give away what you don't already have for yourself...
